01 Vote Polled in Hajin, 44 in Palhalan out of 4000- Clashes Erupt in North Kashmir Parts

As North Kashmir is in a festive mood when long queues of voters were seen during first phase of polling in Baramulla, Several areas including Hajin witnessed poll boycott.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that clashes between Government Forces erupted in Gund Jahangir and Sahgund area of sonawari in North Kashmir as hundreds of youth hurled stones on polling stations, the clashes were going on till this report was filed.

In Hajin township of Bandipora, Sources said, Out of 1800 votes, only 01 vote polled in 03 polling stations of Hajin, while in Palhalan, the situation turned volatile when hundreds of youth shouting pro Independence slogans clashes with the Government Forces.

A lady was also injured in this stone pelting incident, in Pattan’s Palhalan an almost complete boycott is being witnessed. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that So far 44 votes have been polled in 4 polling booths with total electorate of 3979 till 11 am.

The overall voting percentage in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls 2019 in North Kashmir was recorded a total of 19 percent  polling while the state over all witnessed a polling of 24 per cent till 11 am.
