Msc Student Joins Militant Ranks

Amid the growing Anti Militancy Operations and the Director General’s Constant requests to the youth to stay away from Militancy, more youth are picking up Guns and strengthening the Militant ranks.

Figures available to The Kashmiriyat suggest that more than 87 youth have joined Militant ranks this year in Kashmir and the majority of them is from the four districts of South Kashmir where Militancy has seen a rapid rise post the encounter of Burhan Wani on 08 July, 2016.

On March 19, three youth identified as Tawseef Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar, Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, and Sameer Ahmad Dar (MSc Geology student) son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat, all residents of Gandibagh Kakpora in Pulwama had gone missing.

Today, Sameer Ahmed has posed with an AK 47 Rifle and announced his entry into the Militant ranks, the photograph reveals that he has joined Jaish e Muhammad.

Jaish has gained prominence in Kashmir post 01 January when Jaish e Muhammad men stormed into District Police Lines in Pulwama.

After Sameer had gone missing the family had filed a Missing report in the Police station.

The Kashmiriyat had carried a story in March that it was likely that Sameer has joined Militant ranks.

The Himalayan Region has seen a surge in Militant recruitment after the killing of a local Militant in 2016 July, the armed Insurgency challenging the Indian Rule on Kashmir had broke out in 1988.

The region is claimed in its entirety by both India and Pakistan who have fought three wars over the region.
