After the Bhartiya Janta Party has pitched for a Hindu Chief Minister in Jammu Kashmir, the name of Sajjad Gani Lone is popping up as a chief ministerial candidate, if a Government is ever formed in Jammu Kashmir.
As per a news report, Sajjad Lone is a front-runner for the Chief Ministerial race in Jammu Kashmir as a consensus candidate between the BJP and dissenting PDP MLAs.
The report has said that Sajjad Lone met Haseen Drabu in a meeting in Delhi in which a PDP MLC was also present in the meeting.
Earlier in the day, it was told that BJP is pitching for a Hindu Chief Minister.
As per sources, 14 PDP MLAs have expressed dissent from Mehbooba Mufti’s leadership and are ready to change sides.
The Mehbooba Mufti-led government collapsed on June 19 after the coalition partners BJP withdrew its support.
The BJP has 25 MLAs while 14 dissenting MLAs are ready to support the new Government, Sajjad Lone’s People’s Conference has 2 making the total 41 while the figure required for Government Formation is 44.
