Militants attack Army Patrol in Baramulla’s Pattan

January 28 Suspected Militants on Monday evening attacked a patrol of Indian Army. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a patrol of Indian Army was attacked in Wussan area of Pattan in North Kashmir's Baramulla District. The Militants later fled from the spot, a search operation has been launched in the area. However, a senior Police official denied any attack having taken place.

January 28 A Nagpur policeman who allegedly 'showered' cash on a group of young schoolgirls has been shunted out of his beat duty and a probe initiated, an official said here on Monday. The incident happened on January 26, when the group of Class 6 girls of the Zilla Parishad School, Nand village, were presenting a cultural dance on a patriotic song on stage to mark the Republic Day celebrations. January 28 A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper died of brain haemorrhage in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Monday afternoon. As per initial reports, An Assistant commandant of CRPF identified as Ravinder Kumar of 118 BN a resident of Uttar Pradesh fell unconscious after suffering brain haemorrhage at the CRPF headquarters in Gund area of Kangan. Police Arrests Man with Liquor in Verinag

January 28 The Jamu Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a bootlegger from Islamabad (Anantnag) district of south Kashmir. 18 Animals Burnt in Fire Incident at Doda

January 28 Eighteen animals were burnt to death after a major fire engulfed in their shed in Doda district, police said Monday. Farmer Tirath Ram, a resident of Gajoth village here, had reportedly lit the fire to keep the shed warm when at least 15 goats, two bulls and a horse died, police said. Ram was devastated after the incident and broke down after seeing the carcasses, Bhadarwah SHO Munir Khan said. As per preliminary investigations, the fire originated from the fire place of the cattle shed around Sunday midnight and spread soon, Khan added. The locals, along with the sleuths of a team from the Bhalla police post, put out the blaze at around 7 am on Monday. Two rooms adjoining the cattle shed were also gutted in fire, they said. (PTI)
