Seven years have passed since the social welfare department had sent a proposal to the Government of Jammu Kashmir for the establishment of four  Drug De-addiction centers in the Kashmir valley,a year after the Government approved only two centers, one of them in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the construction of Tral De-Addiction center was started in 2012 and till now not even 50 per cent of work has been completed.

Locals Living in the area claimed that they constantly asked the Government to make the center functional, but the authorities concerned have failed.

A Local Shariq told The kashmiriyat that if functional it can treat thousands of drug addicted youth from the nearby areas.

“There Is an unavailability of funds from social welfare department which is preventing us to complete the construction,” an official said.
