After Facing Torture in Army Custody, Suhail Had Joined Militancy Last year

Thousands of people on Monday reached Shopian to attend the funeral prayers of a local Jaish militant who was killed in an encounter  in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that thousands of people defying the cold thronged the native of Suhail Nazir Mir Ahmad in Saedpora area of Shopian to attend the funeral of the slain Militant.

Locals said that the body of Suhail was recovered from the encounter site in Memander village of Shopian on Wednesday morning.

Suhail who was 18 years old went missing after he was tortured inside the Army custody in Gagran camp of Shopian, a friend of Suhail told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that after he was released, Suhail went missing from his home in Saedpora and a few weeks later, the family was informed that Suhail had joined Militant ranks.

“His mother and whole family looked for him everywhere, but to no avail,” his friend said while speaking to The Kashmiriyat.

“Six rounds of funeral prayers were offered by tens of thousands of people for the slain militant,” eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat.

18 year old Suhail is survived by three brothers, two sisters and old age paren

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Shopian against the killing of the Militants.
