After Kulgam, Now Militants Escape during Shopian Encounter

A few hours after thousands of civilians rescued a militant alive from the debris of an encounter site in Mohammed pora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District, Militants yet again managed to give a slip to forces and escape the site of another encounter in Pinjoora area of Shopain.

A Police Official had earlier told The Kashmiriyat that Government Forces including 44RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had jointly laid a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about Militant presence in the area.

As the forces were conducting the search operations, the holed up Militants opened fire on Forces, triggering a gun battle.

He said that as soon as the gun battle started, hundreds of locals tried to disrupt the operation, by throwing stones on the forces, the forces tried to disperse them, during which one protester was killed.

The operation, however, continued for more than 12 hours, search lights had also been imposed in the area and the house in which Militants were believed to be hiding, was blasted, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

They said that after conducting searches for nearly four hours, the forces have not found any dead body at the encounter site inside the rubble of the damaged house.

Mobile Internet services were also snapped in the Shopian district of South Kashmir.
