Anganwadi workers Tear gas shelled in Ganderbal

Police on Saturday used Smoke shells and batons to disperse the protesting Anganwari workers and helpers demanding release of pending wages and regularization of their services.
Hundreds of workers and helpers are on strike for the past three months demanding regularization of services and early release of their pending wages.
The Anganwadi workers earlier assembled at Eidgah Beehama and later marched towards the DC office to press the government over their demands. They later held a sit-in on Beehama-Safapora road and blocked the road and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
Later police reached the spot and asked protesting Anganwadi workers to remove the blocked on the road. However the protesting Anganwadi workers were reluctant and refused to disperse and continue their protests.
As the protesters didn’t back down police swung into action and used batons and some smoke shells to disperse them.

When contacted SHO Ganderbal Nisar Hurrah told The Kashmiriyat that the protesting Anganwadi workers disrupted traffic on the Beehama Safapora road leading massive traffic jam in the area did not remove the blockades they were forced to resort to fire some smoke shells to disperse them.
