Bashir Veeri says Ban on Jamaat e Islami a Part of BJPs ‘Zionist’ Policy

Strongly denouncing the ban on Socio-Religious organization, Jamaat e Islami, the leader of National Conference, Dr. Bashir Veeri has called the ban as a part of the ‘Zionist’ Policy.

Incharge of National Conference for South Kashmir districts, Dr. Veeri said that the National conference strongly denounced the ban and said that curbs on Jamaat e Islami are a violation of the right to speech and expression guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.

He said the brutal tactics led by the Government against Jammu Kashmir and steered by PDP in Kashmir are Anti-People are bound to fail.

“Such measures will only alienate people and deteriorate the already volatile situation in Jammu Kashmir,” Veeri said.

Veeri also demanded the immediate release of the Jamaat e Islami activists.

Centre government on Thursday banned Jamaat e Islami (JeI) Jammu Kashmir as “an unlawful association” under Section 3 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

An order passed by the Ministry of Home Affairs read that the “central government is of the opinion that JeI is in closed touch with militant outfits, and is supporting extremism and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, and elsewhere.”
