Brinty Dailgam Residents Face Acute Shortage of Drinking water Facilities

The Residents of Breenti area in Dialgam area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district allege that due to shortage of drinking water facility they face immense hardships.

The Public Health Engineering department assured restoration of water supply, many a times, but nothing was done.

The area is facing acute shortage of drinking water Supply for last three years.

A local resident Rukhshar Ahmad while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said, “we are facing water scarcity for past Years.”

He added that they are facing immense problems as they have to go to other places to fetch the drinking Water.

Everyday women cover long distances to fetch water from village streams and lakes, which is not fit for drinking

“Since taps in our houses have run dry, we are forced to take the filthy water from other places,” they said.

They added that the government has not made any satisfactory arrangements.

 The locals said we fetch water from bore-wells and is not fit for health.

Locals said That the authorities were laying pipes in village before four years back for Breenti and other adjoining villages but they did not complete their work and people suffer a a lot of problem of water.

The residents while speaking to The Kashmiriyat demand immediate restoration of Drinking water supply to the area.

The Kashmiriyat contacted the AEE PHE Riyaz Ahmad who said the project is under execution of NABARD.

“Hopefully within two Years the project will be completed,” he said
