Danishwar Hameed On Monday, District Administration Kulgam organized a function here to celebrate National Girl Child Day which aims at promotion of awareness about rights of girl child. The theme of the Day was 'Empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow'. The event was inaugurated by ICDS Kulgam. ADDC Kulgam Reyaz Ahmad Sofi, who was the chief guest, in his address expressed concern over high mortality rate of a girl child. ADDC called for greater awareness to end gender inequalities and underlying nature of patriarchy, girl children often find themselves in. He also discussed threadbare importance of the day and threw light on pivotal role that women play to make the world a better place to live

Low Intensity IED Blast In Kulgam, No Casualty Reported

Militants on Tuesday triggered off a low-intensity improvised explosive device at Ziyarat Qaimoh-Kader Road, the area falling between Yaripora and Qaimooh in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said. There was no casualty reported in the incident which created panic in the area, a police officer told GNS. He said that soon a contingent of police and army reached the spot and cordoned off the area, he said. (GNS)

The condition of three soldiers and two civilians injured in South Kashmir’s Kulgam gunfight is stable, the Army said on Thursday. Pertinently, a non-local militant and a cop were killed in Pariwan village of Kulgam in a gunfight that raged between a militant and joint forces on late Wednesday night. Police have identified the slain militant as Babar Bhai, a resident of Pakistan. Srinagar based spokesperson said that a cop was killed during the operation based on human intelligence when the trapped militant fired upon the search party and lobbed a grenade. He said that the cop died while 3 soldiers from 34 RR and two civilians were injured, who were airlifted to 92 Base Army Hospital located in Badami Bagh Srinagar for treatment. Danishwar Hameed A massive cordon and search operation (CASO)has been launched in the Bonpora area of Turigam in the Yaripora belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam district " The operation was launched jointly by forces including  RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police following inputs about the movement of militants in the area," an official told The Kashmiriyat As per locals, searchlights have been installed and all the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed.

Danishwar Hameed One person was killed, two others injured in a road accident in the Chatbal area of Kulgam district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday noon, a two wheeler collided with a tipper in the Chatbal area, causing injuries to three persons. The trio was rushed to the hospital, however, one of them succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified as Altaf Ahmed Sheikh, son of Ali Mohd Sheikh , a resident of Mirhama Kulgam.
