Seven BSF troopers test positive for Covid-19 in north Kashmir

At least seven troopers of Border Security Force have been found positive for Covid-19 in Handwara town of north Kashmir Kupwara district, official sources said here on Thursday. Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that 7 BSF Jawans of 57 Battalion located near degree college Handwara have been detected positive for the virus. They said that all the positive patients have been isolated and were being treated as per the Covid-19 protocol. The official also said that all the primary and secondary contacts of these positive patients are being isolated and have been asked to follow Covid-19 protocol to avoid further spread of the virus. Death of a person in Navyug tunnel accident has been officially confirmed to be of the bus driver even as all injured persons said to be hailing from Defence Colony Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. 199 fresh covid-19 cases, no death reported in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir reported 199 fresh covid-19 cases while there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday. 90 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu division and 109 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 342001. There was no death reported due to the virus during the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4530 persons—2199 in Jammu and 2331 in Kashmir—have died due to the virus, they said. An unidentified militant has been killed in Gasu area of Shalimar in outskirts of Srinagar district on Monday. A senior Police officer told GNS that a militant has been killed in Shalimar by the joint team of Police and CRPF. However identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained. Sheikh Nadeem A daily wager of the Power Development Department was electrocuted to death on Friday afternoon in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that Sawlat Bhat son of Mohammed Rafiq Bhat aged around 28 was repairing a faulty line in the Buchoo area of Dooru when he was electrocuted. He was shifted to the hospital, where the doctors declared her 'brought dead' on arrival, the official said. The Police have taken cognizance of the incident and taken up further investigations.
