Two booked under PSA for ‘anti-national’ activities in Baramulla

The Jammu Kashmir Police booked two persons under Public Safety Act in Baramulla district. In a statement issued to press, the police spokesperson said, “Two persons namely Abdul Rashid Sheikh son of Ali Mohammed resident of Lalpora Kharkhal Kunzer and Mohammed Akbar Malik son of Abdul Gani resident of Lalpora Wanikhal Kunzer under Public Safety Act for Anti-national activities." The booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in district jail Udhampur, Police said. "Pertinently, several cases are registered against these persons and were involved in disturbance of Law and Order and subversion. Despite their involvement in many FIR’s, they did not mend their anti-national & Social activities,” the statement added.

In view of the increased incident of man-animal conflict, the wildlife department has issued an advisory, asking people to follow it to prevent any loss of life. As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the department appealed to people to follow the preventive measures, which include the Dos and Don’ts issued by the department. The wildlife department asked the people to stop moving into the forest alone, particularly women and children, who are most vulnerable to leopard and bear attacks. It said the movement towards the forest during the evening and morning hours should be restricted as “it is a peak activity time of wild animals, particularly leopards. A case was registered at Police Station Ganderbal, prompting an investigation. The Jammu Kashmir Apni Party has decided to field two candidates to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the Anantnag-Rajouri and Srinagar segments. During a press conference held in Srinagar, Dilawar Mir, Chairman of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee, announced on behalf of the party that Zaffar Iqbal Manhas would be the candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat, while Mohammad Ashraf Mir would contest from Srinagar.
