After overnight rainfall in Srinagar muddy water has inundated nearly half a dozen shops at the refurbished Polo View market in Srinagar even as authorities said there was no drainage failure. President Polo View market, Haji Mohammad Ismail told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that muddy water has entered few shops in the market. He, however, said that it was not known how the shops got inundated while a team of officials visited the area. CEO Srinagar Smart City Athar Amir told KNO that there is no drainage failure as all the drains in the market are almost dry. “We are looking into the issue and it seems water has entered from the back side. 100 E-Buses for Srinagar set to start trial run in next two days

The Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) is all set to commence the trial run of e-buses in Srinagar within the next two days, and over a dozen such vehicles are expected to be operational on the roads here after 15 days. Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has procured 200 e-buses; 100 for each of the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar. A total of 200 e-buses with AC, heating facility, and CCTV are being procured under the Smart City project. The e-buses will also have digital on-boarding facility and live tracking, enabling people to be aware of the buses’ arrival timings. A newly opened wine shop located in Potha area of Poonch’s Surankote subdivision was gutted in a mysterious blaze while police have started investigation into the matter. The shop, officials said, is located on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway at Potha. Meer Irfan A twenty two year old from Shopian district of south Kashmir fell in the Aharbal waterfall. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday afternoon, a youth fell into the gushing waterfall at Aharbal area of Kulgam district on south Kashmir. The youth, a resident of Manihal area in Imam Saheb Shopian was running a shop in the south Kashmir district. Amid the rising knife attacks in Kashmir, two youth were stabbed near Srinagar's Exhibition Ground. Officials said that three persons were arrested in Srinagar for stabbing two youth on Sunday evening in Exhibition ground. Police said that the three arrested were identified as Hammad Khan, Baazil Khan and Majid Khan, all residents of Sariabala area in Srinagar. "Three knives were recovered from the accused after which an FIR under the number 40/2023, under section 341,307 IPC was registered in Shergari PS Srinagar," Police said.

The Central Government is set to amend the Jammu Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019 to reserve three vacancies in the Jammu Kashmir Assembly. While two berths would be kept for "migrants," one berth would be reserved exclusively for displaced individuals, those who migrated from portions of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and are presently on the other side of the LoC, according to media reports. The Jammu Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, has been introduced in the Lok Sabha for consideration. Reservations are being made in order to "protect their political rights as well as their overall social and economic development."
