Cordon Lifted from Batamaloo- Full Story

The Government Forces after conducting Massive search operations in the Batamaloo locality of Srinagar have lifted the siege after nearly seven hours.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Earlier Government Forces had laid a siege around Deyarwani area of locality around 3 am and at approximately 4 Am, they came under massive gunfire from Militants.

In the initial exchange of gunfire, one trooper identified as Sgct Parvaiz was killed and three other were injured.

One civilian identified as Mohammed Shafi, who is believed to be the house owner has also sustained injuries.

A group of three militants was believed to be trapped in the area.

The firing stopped after the initial brief exchange of fire, however firing resumed from the side of Government Forces, Locals told The Kashmiriyat .

Later the Governemnt forces started a search operation in the locality and extended the search operation to nearby localities including ziyarat shareef, Firdous Abad, SD colony, Moominabad  bypass Road.

The entry and exit points were sealed to the Batamaloo locality, sources told The Kashmiriyat .

Public movement had also been restricted in the areas amid a shutdown of Mobile Internet services.

After conducting search operations for neatly 7 hours, the Government Forces finally called off the operation.

Some reports suggested that Naveed Jatt, top most commander of Lashkar e Taiba was trapped in the area along with his two associates.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the house in which the Militants were initially trapped has suffered damage.

The Police officials said that incriminating material was recovered from the site of encounter. Besides two accomplices of the militants have been arrested.

Officials said that the operation has been called off.
