Despite Restrictions to Foil Protests, Thousands Protest Against Killings In Pulwama

Despite strict restrictions imposed in Pulwama, hundreds of people from Jamia Masjid of the District marched towards the district headquarters on Friday post congregational prayers.

Locals from Pulwama told The Kashmiriyat that protests were held at Muran, Main town, Ruhmoo and many areas of South Kashmir districts including Shopian after Friday prayers.

Many clerics and the coordination committee from the Pulwama District had asked people to protest against the civilian and Militant killings after Friday prayers.

Thousands of people defying the strict restrictions held strong demonstrations throughout the district on the call of the clerics of Pulwama District.

The Killings were widely denounced as “barbaric” in mosques throughout Southern Kashmir and hundreds of people from many mosques of the Pulwama district are seen marching towards the Sirnoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District where seven civilians and three Militants were killed on last Saturday.

Clashes also broke out at Malikpora area in Pulwama when Government Forces fired tear smoke shells on the protesters.
