Eight policemen including three officers were killed and sixteen others injured when they went to catch a dreaded criminal in Bikaru area in Kanpur Dehat district in Uttar Pradesh on early Friday.
The State Additional Chief Secretary of Home, Awanish Awasthi speaking to the media speaking on the incident said that the Policemen were ambushed by a criminal, Vikas Dubey in Bithore area of Kanpur Dehat district when they were on way to arrest him.
Among the were a Circe officer (CO), one SO, one sub-inspector and 5 constables.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolence and directed strict action against the criminals.
