An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in the Hassanpora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that Joint forces of the 1 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in the Hasanpora Kulgam, after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
During the cordon, the militants opened fire on forces and as per the latest reports, the exchange of gunfire is still on.
Kashmir Zone Police confirmed the encounter in a tweet. “#Encounter has started at Hasanpora area of #Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice,” they wrote in a tweet.
