Fresh firing Starts at Encounter Site in Achabal

After a lull of more than an hour, fresh firing has started at the site of encounter in Reshi Mohallah locality of Badoora area in Achabal of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district.

The encounter, officials told The Kashmiriyat  had started when militants opened fire on a joint party of 19RR of Indian Army , Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF in the area on Monday morning.

After the initial contact, no firing had been heard in the area, however after a lull of more than 45 minutes, fresh firing has been heard at the site of the encounter.

Meanwhile mobile internet services have been suspended in the District amid a complete shutdown in the area Achabal belt.

The exchange of fire was going on when this report was filed.

Clashes had also erupted in the Achabal township on Monday morning, the forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the crowds.
