Ganderbal Locals Demand Closure of Maternity Centre

Mini Maternity Center at Wayil area of Ganderbal district established in 2013 lacks adequate staff with the patients who need maternity care here are being compelled to travel Srinagar for treatment.

The Local residents while speaking to The Kashmiriyat complaining of lack of services inside the maternity center demanded the closure of the center if the Government cannot provide them necessary facilities.

 

They said, “We see only one lady staff here  She too remains here for some time.The center is without ambulance service. The diagnostic machines are rusted as nobody in this center can  operate them. The center need technical staff to operate the diagnostic machines.”

Residents of adjacent villages told The Kashmiriyat that government should close the center and use it for other purpose or sanction adequate staff to run the center.”

They further said, “Government has spent huge money on the construction of this center. The money has been wasted as the center is unable to cater to the demands of maternity patients.”

A medical official upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that the center requires at least one gynecologist, few anesthesia assistants, nurses, FMPHW, Laboratory technicians, pharmacists and a Medical officer.
