House “Burnt” During CASO in Kulgam Area, Intense Clashes Erupt

Locals of Kujar area in Kulgam alleged that a house was set ablaze by Government Forces during a cordon and Search operation in the area

Intense clashes erupted in Tangbal and Kujar areas of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district after government forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

On Wednesday afternoon morning, the forces including RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Tangbal area.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this locality and are conducting a search operation in the area.

Youth in large numbers hit the streets as soon as the search operation started, The forces fired tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesting youth.

“A house has been set ablaze by the forces during the cordon and search operation in the area,” Locals alleged.

They said that Forces fired tear smoke shells inside a house and within a few minutes, flames emerged out of the house.

Locals rushed to the spot and are trying to bring the fire under control, officials, however, denied the allegations.

“Someone hurled a petrol bomb and set a tin shed ablaze in the area. These allegations are totally baseless,” officials said.

Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched as an Anti Militancy operation on May 2, 2017 amid a rise in the local recruitment into Militant groups in the Kashmir valley.
