I am Proud that my Son Died as a Martyr- Shangus Father

Nisar Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat resident of Krad, Shangas area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district was on Friday laid to rest amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans in his native village.

The 23 year old was a Tractor driver by profession before leaving his home on Dec 8, 2017 for Bombay to never return back.

For last five years he used to preach Tabligi Jamat and also worked in Saudi Arabia in the year 2015, locals told The Kashmiriyat.

Nisar was not interested in conflicts or unrest till 2016 and was non participant in politics or protests.

Unlike the modern trend, his photo had not been uploaded with weapon on social media platforms.

His Parents had immediately filed a missing report in the nearby police station Uttersoo in April, but the police was unable to locate Nisar Ahmad.

After a gap of unsuccessful attempts of local police to trace him finally on June 15 his family recognised a photograph of their Nisar Ahmad who had been killed in a gunfight at Machil sector in first week of June this year.

Nisar’s father served as a teacher for 20 years and now the primary source of the income to the family is agriculture.

Nisar is survived by 5 brothers, 3 sisters and old aged parents.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat his father Ghulam Rasool Bhat said that he is thankful to Almighty Allah

for the martyrdom of his son.

Nisar’s body was exhumed after DNA tests which took almost one month.

He was buried at his native grave yard at Krad-Shangas where almost ten thousand people of different walks of life

participated. Amid pro freedom slogans Nisar was laid to rest.
