“I will come Back in an Hour”- Husband Promised his Wife Before he was shot Dead in His Orchard

Handew area of Shopian was the last news maker from the Shopian district in South Kashmir, where three alleged Militants were shot dead, hours later, the Bhat familt of Handew in Shopain, refuted the Police allegations and said that their “innocent” son had been killed at the encounter site.

As per the family members, the civilian named Ishtiyaq Ahmed Bhat was killed during an encounter along with the two militants in Handew area of Shopian had gone to the orchard to bring fodder for animals.

His wife lying down in the corner of her house, said, that he had promised her to return within an hour, “I will come back soon, do not worry,” she remembers Ishtiyaq having told her. But less did she know that hours later his dead body will come home.

She said that Ishtiyaq had been arrested several times by forces and was released just three weeks back; He is survived by his wife, brother and sister besides his parents.

A Local speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that such things have become a routine now in Kashmir and the Forces get an easy escape, because killings have become the new normal of Kashmir. “Otherwise the Government in any place would investigate such killings where civilians are killed, but in Kashmir, people are killed every day, so nobody cares.”

He added that Kashmir has become a lawless place and every law is used against the common people and the forces are getting a free hand to do anything as per their choice.

The Jammu Kashmir Police had questioned his presence near the encounter site on Thursday; Even a police statement claimed that three militants died in the encounter at Handew.
