Someone might barge into your home all of a sudden if you live in Islamabad and ask you to pay as they are concerned about your safety.

A Gas Agency based in South Kashmir’s Islamabad District has all of a sudden woken up from slumber and made it mandatory for everyone to deposit 177 rupees per two years for “Gas Check up.”

Showkat Gas Agency one of the oldest Gas Agencies in the town has hired two people who might knock at your door anytime remembering you what is right to do.

“Two technicians barged inside our house and told us that it was mandatory for us to have our Gas cylinders and other associated things checked,” an Islamabad family said.

We tried to ask them, why has it become mandatory all of a sudden, they without answering anything started the “mandatory” checkup, the family said.

The Mandatory checkup does not need the consent from the families who are to pay for the same, they told The Kashmiriyat.

“This is nothing, yet another way to loot the common people,” the family said.

On contacting the gas Agency, the Agency told The Kashmiriyat that they have got permissions from the Administrative officials to conduct the mandatory checkups in all households.

Additional Director, CAPD, Islamabad (Anantnag) told The Kashmiriyat that he will look  into the matter.

However a larger question that the Administration needs to answer is where does this leave ones freedom to choose?
