Stone pelting at Lal Chowk Islamabad

Today on the conclusion of Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Islamabad (Anantnag) dozens of youth  gathered at the Jamia Masjid compound raising pro Freedom slogans. The youth later marched towards Lal chowk where the police tried to stop them. The youth retaliated by throwing stones at the troopers. One lady namely Sarwa Begum w/o Mohammed Shafi Pathan R/o Reshi Bazar Islamabad (Anantnag) was also injured after a stone hit her on the eye during the clashes. The Clashes are still going on. 

Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed at Sopore area in Northern Kashmir in solidarity with the two militants who were killed yesterday in an encounter with paramilitary troopers.

Sporadic clashes began in the Achabal area of Islamabad (Anantnag) district today morning after clusters of youngsters appeared on the streets shouting pro Sabzar and pro Freedom slogans. 

The CRPF and Police chased away the demonstrators. The youth started throwing stones on the paramilitary troopers. "Normalcy" had been restored when this report was filed

Spontaneous shutdown and clashes  erupted in Islamabad (Anantnag) this morning when the news of killing of Top Hizb commander, Sabzar Ahmed Bhat spread like wild fire. At least 20 people have sustained minor or major injuries during the clashes. The police and the paramilitary troopers fired tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the demonstrators. In the police action one Sameer Ahmed R/o Khul Kehribal, Islamabad (Anantnag), a 19 year old student of Higher secondary school Mattan received a head injury. He has been shifted to SKIMS for treatment in a critical condition.

A demonstration was also taken out from both Boys and Girls college of Islamabad (Anantnag) in which many students including girls sustained injuries. Zahid Reyaz of Bangidar Islamabad (Anantnag) aged 23, a college student and Mohsin Gulzar aged 23 of Malknag area of Islamabad (Anantnag), Mudasir Ahmed R/o Khanabal Islamabad (Anantnag) received pellet injuries. While one Tahir Rashid Dar R/o Kaladrang Redwani in Kulgam district who is being treated at District Anantnag said while he was back on his way to home after getting his documents from the boys Degree college in Anantnag, he was rounded up by CRPF men near Wanpoh and hit with a gun butt on the back of his head. 

Meanwhile clashes have been reported from Shangus, Achabal, Bijbehara, Aishmuqam, Seer, Hillar, Akhura, Mattan, Nanil and many other areas of Islamabad (Anantnag). Clashes were also reported from many areas in Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts

Hailstorm in Islamabad (Anantnag) areas

Anantnag (Islamabad) : Strong winds and Hailstorm hit the Shangus area of South Kashmir's Islamabad district around 4 pm today evening with people expressing concern for possible damage to agricultural crops. The hailstorm lasted for about 25 minutes, causing damage in several villages of south Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district. The worst hit areas include Chatbal, Chittergul, Utersoo, Shangus, Nowgam, czerpora, Wangam  and Kuther among other areas.

Fire in Akingam Village

A residential house caught fire in the Bonpur area of Akingam at Islamabad (Anantnag) district in Southern Kashmir. The house that belonged to Mohammed Afzal Sheikh S/o Mohammed Ahsan Sheikh was completely damaged in the fire. According to locals, flames suddenly started erupting from the house around 9 30 pm today. The locals rushed to the spot trying to rescue the inmates and whatever could be saved. The Fire service emerged on the spot and the fire was brought under control. No casualty was reported, however some locals sustained minor injuries.

Search Operation in Brakpora

A search operation has been launched at Brakpora area in the Islamabad (Anantnag) district of Southern Kashmir, according to locals. A heavy contingent of paramilitary troopers including 19RR, Special Operations Group cordoned the area around Iqbal Memorial School this evening. More vehicles were seen rushing towards the spot,there was no firing reported from the spot till this news was filed.  Meanwhile the civilian movement has been impacted due to a great extent in the area. The Station house officer of Anantnag while speaking to 'The Kashmiriyat' confirmed the operation.
