Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at CRPF camp located at Sarbal area near Pahalgam in Islamabad (Anantnag). Earlier militants had snatched two rifles from the guards deployed at the house of Retired Justice Muzaffar Ahmed Attar in Laizbal.  

Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at around 9:20 pm. More details are awaited.

Two cops were injured in the attack

June 13

Suspected militants attacked the residence of Retired Justice Muzaffar Ahmed Attar this evening and snatched 2 SLR rifles from the guards in the house. The house at located at Laizbal area (KP Road)  of Islamabad (Anantnag) district.

Two policemen were injured in the attack.

Meanwhile 1 RR, SOG, Police have launched a massive cordon around the area to nab the militants. Speaking to ‘The Kashmiriyat’ a police officer confirmed the attack and said Both the injured cops have been shifted to District Hospital Islamabad (Anantnag) for treatment. 

Tehsildar raids Shops in Achabal

The Tehsildar of Achabal namely, Ghulam Nabi Lone along with the local police team conducted a surprise check in the main market Achabal, Islamabad (Anantnag) and seized expired goods from a few shoppers in the market. On the directions of Tehsildar, the employees of Muncipal corporation, Achabal destroyed the expired stock in the main square of the area. Some good were also burnt down.

Cordon and Search Operation at Islamabad (Anantnag)

Clashes were going on when this report was filed.

The troopers have launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the Marhama village near Sangam in Southern Kashmir's Islamabad (Ananatnag) district.

As soon as the operation was launched,  the civilians hit the streets and pelted stones on the forces triggering massive clashes.

The troopers fired tears smoke shells and stun grenades to disperse the stone throwing protesters.

Clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Police Public meet at Islamabad (Ananatnag)

A police public meet was today organized at Aishmuqam  in Anantnag District. The meeting was chaired by SDPO Pahalgam, Javid Iqbal Tabasum,  SHO Ashmuqam Shabir Ahmad was also present on the occasion.

The participants highlighted various issues of public importance, Matters regarding development in the area  and also  assured their full support & cooperation in fighting against the crime.

SDPO Pahalgam  while speaking on the occasion said that such meetings are being organized to get the valuable suggestions for better policing and added that Jammu and Kashmir police will provide all possible  legal support and help for constructing a peaceful and crime free society.

Referring to the issues highlighted by the participants,  SDPO Pahalgam  assured them that issues pertaining to Police, will be solved in shortest possible time and  the rest will be taken up with civil administration for immediate redressal.

Police distributes clothes in Bijbehara

According to a press release issued to 'The Kashmiriyat', The Islamabad (Anantnag) Police today distributed free summer clothes among 60 "disabled" students . The distribution was carried out by SP OPs Anantnag, Mukesh Kumar  under the supervision of  SSP Anantnag Zubair Ahmad Khan .
The event was attended by SDPO Bijbehara Tanveer Ahmad and SHO Bijbehara  Arshid Ahmad.
Mukesh Kumar while speaking on the occasion emphasized on the the urge of educating the "disabled" children. He also assured the "disabled students" that the district police would offer further help

Search, Protest at Walerhama Pahalgam

Reactionary clashes erupted at Walerhama Kular area of Southern Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district after paramilitary troopers initiated a Search operation in the area. Hundreds of youth gathered at the venue and started throwing stones at the paramilitary troopers. Locals said, at around a patrol of the army cordoned off the village early morning and as soon as the news spread, hundreds of youth from the neighbouring villages also joined throwing stones trying to disrupt the Search operation.

A Police official while speaking to 'The Kashmiriyat' said. "The army launched a Cordon early morning, however, they could not find anything in the area. When they were on the way out, Locals started throwing stones on them, the army fired in the air to disperse the stone throwers and left the area"

The Army while conforming the operation said, "It was a normal patrol, however the party found something unusual and suspicious in the village so they launched a search operation in the village". 

The cordon has been called off and Army has already left the spot.

Road Accident in Islamabad (Anantnag)

Three young boys injured in the accident, One shifted to Srinagar in a critical condition

An accident in which three boys namely Aakash Fayaz Bhat aged 22 R/o Achabal, Salman Nisar Reshi R/o Achabal aged 23, Danish aged 22 R/o Achabal were injured, took place after a speedy sumo bearing the registration number JK08A 5333 hit their newly purchased two wheeler near Brakpora area of Islamabad (Anantnag). Two of the youth sustained minor injured,while Danish is stated to be in a critical condition. He has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment. 

Gowher Malla, a police official, in charge of P.S janglat Mandi while speaking to 'The Kashmiriyat' said that initially The driver fled from the spot, however he was arrested later and has been kept under  detention at janglat Mandi Police station. His identity was confirmed by the Police officer as Farooq Ahmed Bhat. Gowher Malla also appealed the youth to be cautious while driving.
