South Kashmir Youth Planning to Snatch Weapon Arrested

The Jammu Kashmir Police arrested a Kulgam resident in South Kashmir and said that he was planning to carry out an attack on Government Forces.

“Based on reliable information that Militants, have planned to carry out attacks on Government Forces to snatch weapon, the Police arrested the accused,” the police said.

The Police identified him as Roshan Zameer Bhat son of Mohammad Amin resident of Nowpora Frisal.

In this regard a case was registered in Police Station Yaripora and investigation was set into motion.

The Police claimed that one Chinese Grenade was recovered from his possession.

Khudwani Encounter: Educational Institutes Shut, Internet, Railways Suspended

The Educational Institutes in District Kulgam have been ordered to remain shut as a precautionary measure in view of an ongoing encounter in Kulgam's Khudwani.

Ashok Kumar Saniyal, the Chief Education Officer Kulgam confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that the order has been issued as a preventive measure.

Educational Institutes in Islamnabad (Anantnag) have also decided to shutdown as a preventive measure.

Meanwhile Internet Services have been barred in Kulgam and Islamabad District of South Kashmir.

Railway Services have also been temporarily suspended in South Kashmir post the encounter.

An Encounter had erupted between Militants and Government Forces late night on Wednesday in South Kashmir's Khudwani area of Kulgam district.

1 Civilian Killed in Khudwani Clashes

A civilian has been killed in the ongoing clashes in South Kashmir's Khudwani area on Wednesday.

Hospital officials in Islamabad told The Kashmiriyat that One Civilian identifed as Sharjeel Ahmed Sheikh S/o Abdul Hameed Sheikh has been killed in the ongoing clashes in Khudwani.

He has sustained a Bullet injury on his chest.

Clashes are meanwhile going in Khudwani where an encounter has erupted last night between Militants and Government Forces.

2 Militants are believed to exchanging gunfire with the forces.

Massive exchange of fire is going on between Militants and Government Forces in Wani Mohallah of Khudwani area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that one Militant and One Army man has been killed in the ongoing exchange of fire.

However the identity of the slain has not been confirmed yet.

An encounter had started in Wani Mohallah of Khudwani area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District.

The Encounter was halted during the night but the clashes at the encounter site were going on till midnight.

Officials confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that the operation is being jointly held by 1RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police.

They also said that one troopers has been injured in the initial firing.

Earlier a search party of Government Forces was fired upon by Militants which triggered an encounter.

Reportedly three Militants are trapped in the area including Azad Malik (Dada) of LeT have been trapped in the area.

Meanwhile Mobile Internet services have been barred in the Kulgam District immediately after the encounter erupted.

Clashes Erupt near Encounter site in Kulgam

Clashes have erupted near the encounter site in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District.

Youth in Large Numbers have gathered and are throwing stones to disrupt the anti militancy operation, Local Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

Announcements are being made throughout the area asking the youth to come out as three militants are trapped in the area, Sources said 

Meanwhile firing as going on in the area amidst heavy rainfall.

Encounter started when Militants fired upon a party of Government forces during which one trooper was injured.

The Forces including 1RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police who are jointly conducting the operation have installed search lights.

Meanwhile Mobile Internet services have been barred in the District.

Gunshots Heard during CASO in Kulgam

Gunshots have been heard during an on going cordon and search operation in Wani Mohallah in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District.

A CASO had been launched by Government Forces in the area following specific inputs about the presence of Militants in the area.

The officials were not available for comments.

However local sources said that some fire shots were heard in the area during the anti militancy operation.

Army Organises Health Camp For Students In South Kashmir

The Indian Army on Tuesday organized a medical camp in the Kulgam District of South Kashmir’s .

“The medical camp was organized to look after the health and hygiene of the students,” An army official said.

The Army Doctors as well as doctors from Government Hospital, Kulgam carried out the medical checkup for the students, he said

Awareness was also made regarding hygiene and sanitation issues and significance of keeping clean surroundings, he added.
