Mother of Slain Militant Dawood struck by Brain Hemorrhage

The mother of Dawood Ilahi, slain militant killed in encounter at Rehpora Kulgam in Southern Kashmir has suffered a brain hemorrhage during the funeral of her son in Hawoora Kulgam today.

Sources told that the mother of Dawood fell down unconscious after the funeral of the slain was offered, after which she was rushed to the hospital.

She was immediately referred to Janglat Mandi hospital for treatment, where the Hospital officials told 'The Kashmiriyat that she was struck with a Brain hemorrhage.

The official also said that she has been referred to SKIMS for treatment from there.

Dawood was killed in an encounter with Government troopers On Monday along with another militant in Kulgam.

He had joined the militant ranks in May this year.

12th Caso Fails in Less than 10 Days

The Cordon and Search Operation was lifted from Manchew area in Southern Kashmir's Kulgam District on Sunday.

The troopers had launched the CASO in the village this afternoon after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

However scores of youth came out on the streets hurling stones on Government forces after which CASO was called off.

Pertinently this is the 12th failed operation in less than 10 days.

Earlier CASOs have failed in Quimoh, Redwani, Shopian, Pushwara, Drobgam Pulwama, Kupwara, Babgam, Aripanthan Tral, Charsoo, Hygam Sopore, Muran Pulwama.

Leaving Behind Eid Delicacies, Thousands Attend Funeral Prayers of Slain Militant in Kulgam

Thousands of people on Saturday which happened to be the Eid day gathered in Machiwa Kulgam to offer the funeral prayers of slain Militant Ishfaq Padder.

Shouting pro Freedom and Pro Islam slogans people gathered outside the house of the slain militant where women had gathered in huge numbers.

“As soon as the body of Paddar reached his home, the whole area reverbrated with Pro Freedom slogans,” a participant told ‘The kashmiriyat.

His Body was later taken for funeral prayers in the nearby ground where thousands of people including women and children bid farewell to the slain lashkar militant.

“People left behind Eid joyfulness and delicacies, Good food and postponed the sacrifice of animals to attend the last rites of the slain militant” the participant said.

Ishfaq was killed in a brief encounter with Government forces on Wednesday morning in Kulgam District of Southern Kashmir.

Internet services have also been suspended in two districts of Southern Kashmir post his killing.

One militant was killed in an encounter with Government forces in Southern Kashmir's Kulgam District in Jammu and Kashmir.

The operation took place at the Tantrypora area of Kulgam early this morning.

The slain militant was identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Paddar a resident of Kulgam associated with Lashkar e Taiba (LeT).

The encounter comes a day after a policeman was killed by terrorists on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

Kulgam residents protest against R&B dept

Inhabitants of Pazipora, Margibal Noorabad in Kulgam district Wednesday staged protest against the Roads and Building (R&B) department for failing to macadamize the road 'properly' sanctioned by the authorities.

The residents chanted slogans against the R&B department and demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

The protesting residents according to the KNS correspondent, Zahoor Andrabi said that no earth cutting was done by the department while starting the macadamization work of the road.

They said that the authorities have ordered macadamization of the road with the width of 12 feet but the department on ground is macadamizing only 8 feet.

The residents said that out of total 72 tippers only 16 tippers were brought to macadamize the area. "The work done by the department is improper and the higher ups should action against the officials," they said.

They later appealed the higher ups to look into the matter and redress their grievances at earliest.

The Government Forces on Wednesday laid a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Audipora village of Kulgam District's Quimoh area.

According to Sources, The CASO was launched by 1 RR of Indian Army following a specific Input about the presence of Militants in the area.

All the entry and exit points have been sealed to the village, as more troopers rush to the spot, Sources told 'The Kashmiriyat'.

The Search Operation was going on  when this report was being filed.

Jammu Kashmir Police organizes Sports festival in Kulgam

Kulgam police organized week long Sports Festival at District Kulgam which was inaugurated by MP Nazir Ahmad Laway in presence of SP Kulgam Shridhar Patil at Sports Stadium Kulgam.

A large number of respectable citizens of district Kulgam, media fraternity, school children, civil society members and participating teams witnessed the inaugural ceremony of the fest.

SP Kulgam Shridhar Patil while speaking on the occasion thanked the participants and requested them to join hands with police in order to create peaceful atmosphere in the district.

He further said that the main aim to organize such programs is to provide a platform to the talented youth to advocate sports curriculum in the district and to outreach the areas where avenues are not available but talent is visible.

The SSP assured the participants that such programs shall be organized in future too to capitalize the talent of youth at State and National level.

Besides, senior officers of Civil, Police, Para Military and Army were present on the occasion.

DC Kulgam suspends 20 Absent officials

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, a team of officers led by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Kulgam, Khwaja Nazir Ahmad made a surprise visit of 14 offices of the District headquarter including the offices of Chief Education Officer, AD Food, Chief Medical Officer, District Industries Complex and other ones.

During the visit, the team found 10 employees un-authorisedly absent from their duties. These officials were immediately put under suspension and the respective officers were directed to charge sheet these employees.

Among the suspended officials include 4 officials of AD Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, 3 officials of District Office Pollution Control Board, 2 officials of Chief Education Office and one official of PO DRDA Office.

Meanwhile, as per directions, the Tehsildars also had a surprise visit of different offices of their jurisdiction where they found 10 more officers and officials absent from their duties.

These included one each AEE of R&B, Irrigation of DH Pora, Medical Officer and a MMPHW of SDH DH Pora, in charge TSWO DH Pora, Senior Assistant CDPO Office DH Pora, Tehsil Supplies Officer Pahloo and 3 teachers of Govt Middle School Salam Kanin Nagam. These officers/officials were immediately put under suspension.
