Massive Fire Engulfs School In Sedow

Massive Fire Engulfed a Government High School in Sedow area of Shopian on Thursday night.

Local Sources told The Kashmiriyat that fire appeared in the building today evening which developed a major part of the school building.

Sources said that the fire has not been dozed off as yet, but efforts are being made to dose off the fire.

The immediate cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

Sedow pertinently is the native of Insha, who was blinded by pellets in 2016 after the killing of Burhan wani in July that year.

Thousands of People Gather for Funeral of Slain Civilian

Thousands of people on Thursday gathered in Shopian to attend the funeral of Slain Civilian, Shafiq Shah.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that as soon as the body of slain civilian reached his home, people burst into wails.

Women in particular sobbed the death of Shafiq, who was killed today when suspected Militants attacked CRPF in Lazibal area of Islamabad.

People from far off places have reached Shopian's Main town to pay their homage to the slain civilian.

"People in thousands have gathered here to offer funeral prayers of Shafiq", a civilian from Shopian said.

Shafiq a resident of khar Mohallah in Bongam area of Shopian's Main town succumbed to his injuries after being injured when Militants attacked a CRPF party in South Kashmir.

Clashes Erupt over Civilians' Killing in Shopian

Massive Clashes erupted in Shopian's Main town in South Kashmir on Thursday against the killing of a civilian.

Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat as soon as the news of civilian death reached Shopian District, youth hit the streets.

The youth threw stones on the Government Forces deployed in the area, eyewitnesses said.

Troopers deployed in the area fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.

The clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Pertinently a civilian named Shafiq Shabir Shah was killed after suspected Militants attacked CRPF in Islamabad of South Kashmir.

Shopian Areas without Drinking Water, Locals Demand Restoration

The Residents of many Shopian Villages have said that they are facing the shortage of drinking water from the post week.

Locals of Mool Chitragam while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they have approached the officials of PHE department several times, but they failed to restore water supply more than for 12 villages.

“It is been almost 7 days now that the water problem started, but nothing has been done so far,” Shahid Gani, a resident of Mool Chitragam said.

The Villages are facing shortage of drinking water, he said.

Locals alleged that despite several promises made by PHE, the water supply to the villages has not been restores yet.

PHE Officials upon being contacted told The Kashmiriyat that there is a blockage in the pipes and the department is in the process of restoring the water supply into the villages.

The villages that have been hit by the shortage of drinking water include Trenz, Pehlipora, Langandora, Molu and adjacent villages.

Army Resorts to Aerial Firing in Jamnagri Shopian

The Government Forces resorted to Aerial firing in Khanday Mohallah of Jamanagri in South Kashmir's Shopian District.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the Forces barged into a house and tried to arrest a youth, but scores of youth hit the streets disallowing the same.

"The Youth threw stones on the vehicles of Forces who had come into the area to launch a Cordon and Search operation," a local from Khanday Mohallah told The Kashmiriyat over phone.

As the stone throwing intensified, the Government Forces resorted to aerial firing to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile the cordon and Search Operation has been called off.

Stone Throwing clashes erupted near the four way in the main town of Shopian district of South Kashmir on Thursday.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Scores of youth threw stones on Army vehicles moving through the main Chowk of Shopian.

The troops used force to disperse the protesting students, hence triggering clashes.

CASO Launched in Shopian Area

A cordon and Search Operation has been launched at Khanday Mohallah, Jamnagri in South Kashmir's Shopian District on Thursday.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the operation was launched by 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police after receiving specific inputs about the presence of Militants in the area.

"A door to door search operation has been launched by Government Forces in the area," a local from Jamnagri told The Kashmiriyat over phone.

Intense Stone Throwing Clashes have erupted in the  Kumdalan area of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Monday.

Reports Suggested that the Cavalcade of SP of Jammu Kashmir Police for Shopian District was attacked by Stone throwers.

After which the Police had to fire some aerial shots to disperse the protesting youth, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

Meanwhile there have lot of rumours on Social Networking that Encounter has erupted in the area.

"The Reports are totally baseless, No Encounter has erupted anywhere in Shopian today," a Police official from Shopian told The Kashmiriyat.
