CASO Launched in the Village of Saddam Padder

Clashes erupted in Heff area of Southern Kashmir’s Shopian District after Government Forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the CASO was launched following a specific input about th presence of militants in the area.

The Entry and the exit points to the village have been sealed as Government forces start Search Operation in the area.

However as soon as the operation was launched the youth came out on the streets to disrupt the operation.

The Government forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.

The Search Operation was launched when the report was being filed.

Pertinently Heff is the home village of the Militant Commander, Sadam padder.

Militant Killings: Shopian Shuts Down for Third Day

A complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Shopian district to mourn the killing of three local Militants.

The Transport is off the roads while educational institutes, oil stations, Business establishments have shut down for the second consecutive day.

Shutdown is being observed for the third consecutive day in the area.

Pertinently three militants had been killed in a Gunfight with Government troops on Monday, they were identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir, Irfan Abdullah and Asif Ahmad Paul.


Thousands throng Ganopora to pay tributes to Slain Zahid.

Thousands of people including women reached Ganopora in shopian area of South Kashmir to offer the funeral of Hizb Boy Zahid Ahmed.

Men and women raised Pro Islam and Pro Freedom slogans in the funeral amidst tears and emotions.

Zahid, the Slain Militant was a lonely brother to four sisters and was a teacher at a local school, Greenland School before he joined militancy ranks.

Zahid, a resident of Ganopora aged 24 had joined militant ranks the last year.

Zahid was killed in an encounter with Government Forces on Monday along with two other Hizb boys in Shopian.

Meanwhile the Shopian and Pulwama districts of Southern Kashmir are observing a complete shutdown to mourn the killings of three local militants.

Mobile internet services have also been suspended temporarily in both the two Districts.

Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that two rounds of funeral prayers have been offered and more people are rushing to Ganopora.

An encounter has broken out in Shopian between government forces and militants in Gatipora village of south Kashmir's Shopian district.

Police sources said that the encounter broke out at Gatipora soon after area was cordoned off by 44 RR, SOG Shopian and 14 bn crpf  after receiving specific inputs about  presence of militants in the area.

He added that three militants are believed to be trapped.

Shopian MVD Recovers 43,700 Fine from Traffic Violators

Continuing its efforts to curb the violation of traffic norms, a team of Motor vehicle Department (MVD) led by ARTO Shopian Er Abdul Majid Bhat, today established check points at different locations of the district Shopian.

During the checking many Motorcyclists were found without helmet. A fine of Rs 43700.

Under Motor Vehicles Department  rules was collected from the violators besides the Challan of 147 Motorcycles.


Braid Chopping on escalation, Another incident in Shopian

A 30 year old lady from batpora manihal area of Shopian  district was alone in her house and  was cutting vigetables in her house  when an unknown  person came close to her and sprayed a exotic spray and she fell down unconscious and her hair was chopped off sources told, The Kashmiriyat.

Southern Kashmir has been worst hit with the incident of braid chopping.

The police have formed Special Investigation Teams to probe the incidents. However, so far the police and the authorities have been clueless.

The police have also announced a reward of Rs 6 lakh for credible information leading to arrest of any person behind braid chopping incidents.

Army Fires in the Air to disperse Protestors in Shopian

The Government forces on Friday opened fire on protesters near court road of Shopian after their vehcile was attacked by stones in the area.

Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that a few stones were hurled upon the Army vehciles after which they came down from their vehicles and fired in the air to disperse crowds.

The locals told said that the firing created panic in the locality and a lot of shoppers downed their shutters and ran for cover, however soon after normalcy was restored.

First Braid Chopping Incident in Shopian, Failed after Locals come to Rescue

The first attempt of hair chopping was reported from Shopian in Southern Kashmir on Thursday, however the attempt failed.

A Lady (name with held) was attacked by a braid chopper at her  house in darazpora village of Turkwangam Area in Shopian district.

“The braid chopper was pertinently spotted by the locals before he could cut the hair of the lady, the locals gathered to catch the braid chopper, but the chopper ran away,” Locals told ‘The Kashmiriyat.’

The Locals also said that the lady suffered a shock and she has been rushed to nearby hospital.

At least 30 incidents of braid chopping incidents have been reported from various areas of south Kashmir out of which more than 20 have happened in Kulgam alone.
