Riding on a massive Modi wave sweeping through most parts of India, the BJP was set to return to power while the Congress trailed far behind.
According to trends released by news channels, on Thursday for all 542 seats that went to polls, the NDA is winning 332 seats, while Congress is leading 98 seats.

In the politically critical state of Uttar Pradesh, where the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party had posed a stiff challenge, the BJP was leading in 55 of the 80 seats at stake, The SP was ahead in eight and BSP in 21. The Congress Party was ahead only on two seats.
A lot of videos have surfaced on news channels trying to give us a sense that Muslims too are happy with the victory of Bhartiya Janta Party and Narendra Modi, however the authenticity of these videos could not be confirmed.
In one such video, Burqa clad women can be seen playing drums and holding the photos of Narendra Modi singing hymns in his praise and also praying for him, in another video men wearing skull caps can be seen bursting crackers.
In the video posted by VK News, Muslim women in a small group can be seen sitting in front of a hand-made BJP sign of lotus praying for the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi.
These “Muslim” women praising PM Modi for striking down triple talak has gone viral, In the video, women can be heard singing a congratulatory song for PM Modi and hailing BJP for bringing the triple talak bill.
However, the authenticity of the video could not be verified.
