Intense Clashes Erupt as Polling Closes at 2.28 Percent, Youth Hit with Pellets

Intense clashes have erupted in various areas of Shopan and Pulwama in South Kashmir on Monday afternoon,as the polling staff parties started withdrawing from many areas after a day of dismal polling of 2.28 Percent,

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets of Shopian township in South Kashmir shouting pro freedom and Anti India slogans to protest against the elections that are being held tomorrow in the area.

During the protests, youth threw stones on Government Forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling and firing live ammunition at the youth.

In Parigam, the forces fired pellets at the youth, Many youth were inured in the action of the forces, one youth identified as Zahid Ahmad aged 22 was hit with pellets during clashes in Parigam area of Pulwama.

He has been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Clashes were also reported from several areas including Bongam, Bonabazar and Meemandar Shopian areas of the district.
