Kashmir- 23 Years After Being Acquitted, Ali Reaches the Grave of His Father, Hugs it

Twenty three years after being released, Ali Mohammed Bhat who was acquitted by a court in Rajhastan and found “not guilty” in a 1996-Grenade blast case.

Ali was 25 years old when he was detained in 1996 and since then he has been languishing in Jails. Facing trial for nearly 23 years, Ali was finally acquitted in the case after 23 years along with four others.

All of them had been arrested in 1996 at different places inside the state but were later brought to Jaipur and booked in FIR No. 148/96 u/s 302/307 IPCand 4/5 Explosive Act of Police Station Mohwa, Rajasthan, registered on 22.05.1996 in connection with bomb blast which occurred in a bus at Samlate, which was on its way from Agra to Jaipur.

On Wednesday, Ali reached his home in Kashmir’s Srinagar and rushed straight to the grave of his father who passed away the last month and hugged the grave of his father whom he “loved the most” among his family members.

The Scene was painful and a video of the same has went viral on Social networking sites including twitter. “We’ve lost relatives while we were inside. My father and many relatives have passed away. i have been acquitted, but who will bring back those years,”Ali told the media.

Ali been incarcerated since 1996. During this time, they were lodged in jails in Delhi and Ahmedabad, but were never released on parole or bail.
