Moments before he breathed his last, Faizan asked his friends to give his bloodsoaked shoes to his mother. His body was pierced by three bullets, one on the abdomen, two more in the chest and rib respectively.
Son of a medical officer on duty at the same hospital where Faizan was treated after being hit with three bullets, he had told his father, “I will come back after Friday prayers, then we will have our lunch together.”
It was a normal wake-up call on a Friday morning on 29 June for Faizan, however, he chose to remain in the bed for a little longer on a rainy morning. He did not go to school, in fact, he spent his morning at his home in Pulwama town. At noon, he left for Friday prayers.
As he reached the mosque, a few kilometers away the government forces had launched Cordon and Search Operation in Thammuna village of Pulwama in South Kashmir. As the news of the cordon spread across the town, people in large numbers started marching towards the site to help the trapped militants escape. Amid these announcements asking people to march towards the site of the encounter, youth in groups of dozens started marching towards the site, among these scores was Faizan.
Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that Faizan was declared dead none other than his father Dr. Poswal who is presently working as a Medical officer at district hospital Pulwama. Emotional scenes were witnessed at District hospital Pulwama as news spread in the hospital and one funeral was held at hospital premises soon after his death, they said.
When the father heard of the clashes, his worry for his son grew, he dialed his number several times, but Faizan did not pick up. “I was getting constant calls from the hospital that scores of youth had been injured dozens during the clashes near the encounter site who were being rushed to the Pulwama District Hospital,” Dr. Poswal told The Kashmiriyat.
As the inflow of patients continued to grow, Dr. Poswal rushed back to the hospital to help the injured youth. “When i entered the hospital, my colleagues looked at me with distress and with pain visible in their eyes. As i reached the emergency ward, I collapsed. It was my son, My Faizan’s bloodsoaked body,” said Dr. Poswal. His separation has left a deep wound in my heart, Dr. Poswal said, adding, “On 29 April 2002, he (Faizan) was born in the same hospital where he breathed his last,”
On reaching his native area 2nd funeral was held around 9 pm on Friday evening and the third funeral was held around 10 pm on Saturday after which Faizan was laid to rest, they said. Eyewitnesses said that thousands of mourners from different parts of the southern belt of Kashmir turned up for the funeral prayers of the slain boy.
People from the different age groups of men women and children were among the mourners, said an eyewitness while adding that he was laid to rest amid pro-freedom, anti-India and pro-Islam slogans.buy zovirax generic buy zovirax generic
Faizan Ahmed Poswal son of Dr. Abdul Gani Poswal resident of Gossannaad area of Ladhoo Pampore who was killed during clashes at Chatpora area of Pulwama in his last Facebook Post wanted Militants in Kashmir Valley to unite.
On his Facebook wall, Faizan wrote, “This post is for shopian Mujahideens….Agr aap log aapas mai hassad karogai toh hum civil log kYa karenge…Musa Bhai luv you…Musa Musa zakir Musa.”
The 15-year-old was laid to rest at Gossannaad graveyard amid Pro-freedom and Pro militant slogans.
Faizan Ahmad a 15-year-old boy and 10th class student at MEI Pampore has left behind parents and an elder brother.
Dr Poswal along with his family was presently living in a residential quarter at new colony Pulwama is actually a resident of Gossannaad Ladhoo as his ancestors had migrated from Rajouri to Gossannaad few decades before.
One militant namely sajad@abu Mansoor of Handwara area of North Kashmir was killed during an encounter in Thuman area of Pulwama town while the other two who were trapped as per police escaped.
Pertinently Faizan was the 6th civilian killed near the encounter site in the last 15 days after the central government ordered the resumption of anti-militancy operations in Jammu Kashmir.
Before him, Sheeraz Ahmad from Braakpora Anantnag, Aijaz Ahmad from Nowpora kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Rather from Nowshera Khiram Anantnag, Shahid Nazir from Sirhama Anantnag and Yawar Ahmad from Gassipora Kulgam were killed.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in the Pulwama district to mourn civilian and militant killing.
