Locals Clash With Indian Army in Mir Bazar of South Kashmir

Massive clashes have erupted in Mir Bazar area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district on Sunday morning after a verbal brawl between a Local and Army men.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday morning Army men thrashed a youth in the Malpora area of Mir Bazar without any provocation which resulted in a verbal brawl between the Army men and Locals.

However, more Army men rushed to the spot and started thrashing the locals, and also scattered the goods of nearby shopkeepers.

“They thrashed almost a dozen youth and scaterred items of shopkeepers which agitated the locals,” a Local told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that later a youth girl alleged that the Army men deployed near the Mir Bazar market abused her, which agitated the locals.

Later women and men shouting pro independence and Anti India slogans marched towards the main road where the Army men were deployed.

The women threw stones, Fire pots (Kangris) and chased away the Army men with sticks and bamboos.

The Police and CRPF men have reached the spot and are trying to pacify the protesters, Locals said.

A Police official upon being contacted said that Police has reached the spot.

“We will inform you of the details only after we have ascertained the facts,” he said.
