Lok Sabha Election 2019- 32 Percent Polling in North Kashmir at 5 PM (Live Blog)

After a high voltage campaign, polling begins for the first phase of Lok Sabha Election 2019 in ninety-one constituencies spread across 18 states and two union territories amidst a strict security cover.

In Jammu Kashmir, Baramulla and Jammu will go to polls in this initial phase, as Valley is expecting two power-houses, National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to lock horns, while representatives of the national parties, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will also have a say in Jammu, Engineer Rasheed and Sajjad Lone’s People’s Conference may also surprise the two main regional parties.

The voting began by early morning on Thursday at 1,749 polling stations at 1,387 locations in Baramulla constituency for 13,12,148 registered voters, in which 6,74,417 are males while 6,34,083 others are females, and 41 belongs to the third gender as well. The constituency has 7,953 Persons with Disability (PWD) voters and 157 Voter Verification and Information Programme (VVIP) electors.

1030 am: Clashes erupt at Gund Jahangir and Sahgund areas of Sonawari.

1100 am: 24.66% voting recorded in Jammu & Baramulla parliamentary constituencies, 19 percent in Kashmir valley. Breakdown (Kashmir Valley)- 11.40 % in Baramulla, Kupwara 19%, Bandipora 12.63 % and Migrants 19.36%- Breakdown (Jammu)- Jammu 30.57 %, Samba 35.91 %, Raojouri 30.80%, Poonch 32.83 %

1201 PM: Brisk Polling in Updhampur where Kashmiri Pandits cast their votes for Baramulla Lok Sabha seat at a special polling station set-up at Municipal Town Hall.

1225 PM: 24.66% voting recorded in Jammu & Baramulla parliamentary constituencies, 38.08% in West Bengal (2 seats) and 26.5% in Tripura (1 seat) till 11 am.

1300 PM: 3 Injured in Poll Violence in Arunachal, IED Blast near a polling station in Maharashtra.

1310 PM: High voter turnout in Chattisgarh’s Maoist impacted Bastar.

1320: 41% voter turn out recorded in Nagaland in 4 hours between 7 AM & 11 AM.

1325 PM: The Congress workers alleged booth capturing by supporters of PDP leader Abdul Haq Khan at Devar Lolab in North Kashmir which falls under Baramulla Parliamentary constituency. Khan is the PDP MLA from Lolab Assembly constituency.

1330: BJP workers attack by TMC workers in Coochbehar. Three BJP workers have been critically wounded while four others have also sustained injuries.

1340 PM:  Despite brisk polling at majority of the polling booths across north Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency, not a single vote has been cast in Brath village of Sopore on Thursday.Officials said that the village recorded zero voter turnout till 1 pm.

“Sopore town, recorded a minimal turnout and till 1 pm only 10 to 12 votes were cast,” an official said.

2PM: Baramulla District polled 15.06 percent votes, Breakdown Uri 40.70 % Rafiabad 8.01% Sangrama 7.41% Baramulla 9.60% Gulmarg 21.20% Pattan 18, Sopore 2.0 percent.

2:10 PM: Polling in Kupwara is 30.8 percent, in Bandipora- 20.9, While in jammu city, 45.9 cast their votes, Samba is 52.1 per cent, Rajouri is 44.8 Percent, Poonch is 35.8 Per cent.

3:10 pm: The voting percentage in the Kashmir valley is 27 percent-  Baramulla- 19, Kupwara 38.7, Bandipora 26.1, while in Jammu 59 percent , Samba. 66.6 percent , Rajouri 58.4 percent  and Poonch 53.4 percent.

4:52 PM: No Vote Polled in Brath Kalan, 02 in Hajin, Stone Throwing Continues in Palhallan.

5:20 PM: 32. 41% Polling recorded in Baramulla parliamentary constituency upto 5pm- Kupwara Dist; 47.72 Bandipora Dist; 30.08 Baramulla Dist; 22.30.
