Mathematics Scholar and a Teacher Slain in Tral Encounter

Three Militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter in Tral area of South Kashmir on Wednesday.

Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that three Local Militants have been killed in the joint operation by Government Forces including 42 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF.

As per initial reports one among the three slain is Tawseef Ahmed thokar, a scholar turned Militant from Chursoo area of Awantipora in South Kashmir.

Tawseef who was an MSc in Mathematics has joined Militant outfit Hizb ul Mujahideen on 14 May 2018, he had also done the B.ed Degree from Veta College in Awantipora.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the family of the Youth had earlier filed a missing report in the nearby Police station. The family of the 24 year old Tawseef after he went missing from his home had filed a missing report in the nearby Police station.

“He has two more brothers and his father is a retired headmaster at a Government School,” they told The Kashmiriyat. He (Tawseef) was working as a teacher in a local private school.

Though Indian Forces have intensified operations against the Militants and managed to kill more than 200 Militants the last year including top commanders, Militancy is showing no signs of declination. A Police official recently marked that ‘Silent recruitment’ is going on.

Kashmiri Youth have been joining the Militant outfits since 1988 when an Armed Insurgency challenging the Indian Rule in Kashmir began.

India and Pakistan have both claiming the Himalayan region in its entirety and have fought three wars over the region.
