Militant Active Since 2017 Arrested by Forces in Bijbehara

The Government Forces on Thursday have arrested a Militant from Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Rameez Ahmed Wani, a resident of Hawoora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district who has been active since February 2017 has been arrested by Forces in Bijbehara.

Rameez Joined Militancy along with his two friends, Younis and Dawood in February 2017 after they were released post 10 months in a murder related case.

They had been arrested in 2012 also in a case related to the murder of a Sarpanch of Hawoora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district namely Ghulam Muhammad Dar, who was killed on 08 February 2012.

Hours after the killing, the village being cordoned off and the police rounding up fifteen youth. They all were shifted to Amnu camp in Kulgam. In coming days, all were set free excepting the trio – Younus Ahmad Lone, Rameez Ahmad Dar and Dawood Ahmad Allai.

Rameez had dropped studies in tenth class and was looking for some business, however he was constantly harassed by the Forces, his parents allege, which forced him to join Militant ranks.

A Police official confirming the arrest to The Kashmiriyat said that Rameez Ahmad Dar, an affiliate of Al Badr has been arrested along with arms and ammunition from Bijbehara area in South Kashmir in a joint operation by Anantnag Police, army and CRPF.

He also maintained that  Rameez was active since Jan 2014 adding that, Rameez was involved in many militancy cases.
