Militants Likely Escape During Encounter in Islamabad (anantnag), Searches Continue

A brief exchange of fire raged early morning in Tangpwara area in  Kokernag of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district early morning on Saturday.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that around 1 am on Saturday the 19 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, 168 BN of CRPF jointly laid a siege around the Tangpawa area.

Around 5:30 am, the Militants opened fire on the joint party of Forces, triggering a brief exchange of fire in the area, Sources said.

However, the Militants taking advantage of the dark, escaped from the initial point of contact, they said, adding that searches are still going on to trace out the Militants.

Locals meanwhile speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that heavy searches are still on in the area.

They added that complete silence is prevailing at the encounter and that no firing has been heard from the past three hours.

Meanwhile mobile internet services have been barred in this South Kashmir district.

Tangpawa in Kokernag is the native of known HM commander and one of the oldest surviving Militants, Ashraf Khan who also appeared in the list of wanted Militants prepared by Indian Army last year.

Ashraf Khan, as per officials has escaped at least three encounters and numerous Cordons in the past two years.
