One Militant Slain in Tral Encounter

One Militants has been killed in the ongoing joint operation of Government Forces against them in Aripal area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.

Earlier an official had told The Kashmiriyat that the 42 rashtriya rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police laid siege around a cluster of houses in Aripal area of Tral after receiving inputs about Militant movement in the area.

“As the searches were on, the holed up Militants opened fire upon a joint party of forces, triggering a gunfight,” he said.

The exchange of fire started around 10 am, and the ensuing exchange of gunfire for nearly three hours, one Militants was killed and the house the Militants were hiding in was burnt down to ashes, Sources told The Kashmiriyat.

The identity of the Militant could not be confirmed as of yet. “A search operation is being conducted at the site of encounter, as some Militants have likely escaped from the site of the encounter,” Sources said.

As soon as the news of the encounter spread in the area, people in large numbers poured onto the streets,, throwing stones on Government Forces, who responded with heavy tear smoke and pellet firing.

In what has been a routine move after encounters since 2016, Mobile internet services were also snapped in the region. “We received a communication to snap down internet in the region,” a telecom official told The Kashmiriyat.

Pertinently this is the second encounter of the current year, the first encounter of the year had also raged in Tral in South Kashmir.
