Shopian Man Dies of Stroke After Deprived of Property Rights- Family Blames Revenue Officials

Heart wrenching scenes were witness in the Bandi Mohalla of Shopian town of South Kashmir on Monday, When a man succumbed, after fighting for days, to come out of the stroke, which relatives allege, he suffered due to being fraudulently deprived of his property rights, that he shared with his brother.

The deceased identified as 45 year old Manzoor Ahmed Bhat s/o Ghulam Qadir Bhat r/o Banday Mohalla, Shopian suffered a stroke few days back and was referred to SKIMS Srinagar in a critical condition, where he succumbed on Monday morning, after fighting for his life over few days.

The relatives of the deceased have accused his brother Abdul Rashid Bhat, for his death, who in connivance with the Revenue officials, managed to deprive him fraudulently of his due share from the property, with a result he suffered a deadly stroke few days back. He was referred to SKIMS Srinagar, in a serious condition, where he finally succumbed, leaving behind his small kids and wife.

Relatives of the deceased, while giving details to CNS, said that the two brothers owned land worth crores and ancestral property worth lacs jointly.

“In addition to this, the duo had recently purchased another patch of land measuring 40 kanals jointly and the whole property was managed by Abdul Rashid Bhat, who in connivance with Revenue official changed the title of whole property and transferred everything on his personal name”, they said.

She also alleged that he threw out his brother, an equal partner, Mnazoor Ahmed Bhat from the house, a huge villa and forced him to live in a tin shed, in a miserable condition, along with his family.

“These all negative factors pushed Manzoor Ahmed into an immense stress, which was unbearable for him and suffered a stroke, finally culminating into his death”, they said.

They demanded the district administration of Shopian to investigate the matter and take action against the alleged corrupt Revenue officials and restore the status of the said property over to the heirs of Manzoor Ahmed Bhat and thus deliver justice to them.

Describing deprivation of property worth crores responsible cause for his death, they demanded an enquiry into the matter and to punish the guilty.(CNS)
