Shopian, Pulwama Shuts, Clashes Erupt, Gun Salute Offered as Thousands Gather For Funeral of Slain Militants

Thousands of mourning women and men shouting pro independence and Anti India slogans have gathered outside the house of Aaqib Ahmed in Bhatnoora area of Pulwama who has been killed in an encounter in Keller area of Shopian on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that people in droves of dozens and hundreds singing songs of freedom and dirges of bravery marched towards the house of  Aaqib Ahmad from Bhatnoora from Lassipora Pulwama.

Youth in large numbers in Pulwama township threw stones on the Forces who have been deployed in the area to thwart any kind of protests, the forces used immense force on the protesters.

Students in Government Degree college of Kulgam also held massive demonstrations and clashed with the Government Forces to mourn the killings of the Militants.

“This did not stop people from marching towards the house of slain Aaqib, thousands of people have gathered outside his home amid high pitch pro independence sloganeering,”a local told The Kashmiriyat.

Militants led by Sajad Ahmed of Sugan Shopian who is an operative of Hizb ul Mujahideen offered a gun salute to their slain colleague.

Meanwhile the South Kashmir districts of Shopian and Pulwama are observing a complete shutdown to mourn the killings of the Militants.
