Imam from Kashmir who lead prayers at Masjid Nabvi Passes Away in Saudi

September 04 In 2016, a video of an Imam with a melodious voice went viral over social networking throughout the Islamic world, the man with this golden voice was Kashmir's Qari Khalil-ur-Rehman Qadri. Qari who was the the most respected religious personality from Kashmir in Saudi Arabia has passed on Monday and He was laid to rest in Jannat-ul-Baqiah on monday morning, reports said. Qari Khalil from Pathka village of Muzzafarabad in Pakistani side of Kashmir was born in 1940 and had migrated to Saudi Arabia in 1963. In 2016, it was Qari Mohammad Khalil led the Tarawih prayers in Islam’s first mosque.

Hajj Selfies Gain Prominence, Islamic Scholars Aghast

August 24 Selfie fever has taken the world and it has taken a toll on the Hajj pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques, much to the chagrin of scholars who condemn such ‘touristy behavior’. “I saw pilgrims at Kaa'ba taking selfies with it in the background and this selfie is then posted on Facebook, Instagram, making the Hajj a social media event and ruining their act of ibadah by ‘bragging’,” a pilgrim, Mohammed Shafi who visited the Hajj last year told The Kashmiriyat. The trend of documenting every move at the holy mosques of Mecca and Medina by the pilgrims, and later share these precious moments with friends and families on social media has only resulted in more pilgrims using their phones inside the holy mosques.
