Raising slogans against the public health engineering department, residents blocked Sinthan Larnoo road for nearly half an hour while alleging that the concerned department had failed to provide them with drinking water.

“The PHE (concerned Department) had been appraised of the drinking water problem but nothing has been done as of yet to mitigate their suffering,” a Protester told The Kashmiriyat, adding that the officials made false assurances instead of a valid reason for the crisis.

The blockade was lifted after Station House Officer Kokernag reached the spot and assured the protesters of an early solution to their problem.

The Kashmiriyat spoke to AEE, PHE Kokernag Javid Ahmad who said that the work on the construction of a pipeline was stopped after some locals disturbed the work.

“Every day water tanks for locals are being provided and will be provided,” he said, adding that, “The Department will initiate steps to resolve the problem as soon as possible.”
