Top Militant Commander Likely Trapped in Shopian Encounter- 2 Militants Killed

Two Militants have been killed during an encounter between militants and Government forces at Adkhara area of Imam Sahab in South Kashmir’s Shopian District.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday morning 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area around 3:30 am.

The cordon continued for nearly three hours, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter.

All the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed by the Forces.

As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat two Militants  have been killed in the exchange of gunfire, who as per Sources is a Local residents.

Sources meanwhile said that Lateef tiger, one of the oldest surviving Militants, who was also a part of Burhan’s first group photographs trapped at the site of the encounter.

The firing has stopped as of now, however, the search operations are still going on at the site of the encounter.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that no firing has been heard at the site of the encounter. They said that two of the Militants trapped at the encounter site were from Shopian district..

Mobile internet services have been barred in entire South Kashmir District, Also restrictions have been imposed in the Islamabad (anantnag) township.
