Two Militants have been killed an encounter broke out between government forces and militants in Shotgund in Handwara of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.
Officials had told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF cordoned Shotgund locality of Handwara last night and started a search operation.
“The Hiding Militants Opened fire upon the troops, however the Militants managed to escape the initial site of the gunfight, the troops continued the search OPs during which Militants again opened fire, triggering an encounter,” he said.
In the ensuing gunfight, two Militants have been killed, Sources told The Kashmiriyat adding that the Anti Militancy in the area is still on.
Highly placed Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Manan Wani is not trapped at the gunfight site.
Meanwhile, authorities have suspended the Internet services and closed educational institutions in Kupwara.
