Two Policemen Among Militants Killed in Pulwama

Two Special Police officers of Jammu Kashmir Police who decamped with their rifles from District Police Lines in Pulwama have been killed during an encounter with Government Forces in the Panjran area of Lassipora in Pulwama District of South Kashmir.

A top Police official confirming the killing to The Kashmiriyat said that they had received inputs about the deserter Policemen hiding in the Panjran area after which Forces including 44 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force jointly launched a cordon and search operation on Thursday afternoon.

Few minutes into the Cordon and Search Operation, the hiding Militants opened fire upon the forces, triggering an encounter, during which four Militants were killed, all of them have been identified, the Police official said.

“They were intending to join the dreaded Militant outfit Jaish e Muhammad and had already met some Militants, however they were trapped after they deserted with their service rifles from Pulwama,” the Police official said.

The Policemen were identified as Shabir Ahmad of Tujan Pulwama and Salman Ahmad Uthmula Shopian who were posted at DPL Pulwama had been missing along with their service rifles since two days back, the other two slain have been identified as Ashiq Ahmad of Panjran Pulwama.
