Zeenat ul Islam whose Father Died of Cardiac Arrest Last year Killed in Shopian Encounter

One Militant identified as Zeenat ul Islam Naikoo has been killed in an encounter that raged between Militants and Government Forces in the Itoo Mohallah of Pandushan in South Kashmir’s Shopian District.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the Militants upon being cordoned by 34 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police’s SOG and CRPF opened indiscriminate fire upon them, causing injuries to one Army man.

The Army man who was immediately rushed to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, however, the trooper succumbed to his injuries.

In the exchange of gunfire one Militant was also killed. The Militant, Sources told The Kashmiriyat, has been identified as Zeenat ul Islam Naikoo.

Zeenat who had joined Militancy in May 2018 lost his father of a cardiac arrest when Mohammed Ishaq Naikoo heard the news of his son being trapped at an encounter site.

Meanwhile, scores of youth took to streets raising Anti India slogans hurled stones on forces near the encounter site.

The police and paramilitary CRPF deployed in the area used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse them.

A youth namely Sahil Ahmad of Chogalpora Shopian sustained pellet injury in his left eye.

The troops have intensified the search operations around the area as more Militants are believed to be hiding in the area.

However, no fresh contact has been established as of yet, sources said.
