A soldier of the Indian Army has been killed in the encounter in the Verinag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that an encounter broke out on Wednesday evening in which two Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were reported killed and three soldiers were injured.
He said that the injured soldiers were shifted to Army’s Base Hospital, Srinagar for treatment.
One of the soldiers succumbed to his injuries.
The slain soldier has been identified as Lance Naik Satbir Singh.
Lance Naik from Tarn Taran district of Punjab was posted with 19 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army.
