The opposition leaders have urged to the centre, that in times of the uncontrollable surge of the pandemic, the centre must ensure uninterrupted flow of oxygen to all hospitals and health centers.
The centre has been asked to launch a free mass vaccination drive all across the country. And has been told that the budgetary allocation of Rupees 35,000 crores for the vaccination programme be used for the purpose.
The statement dated 2 May, 2021 read, “In times of the uncontrollable surge of the pandemic across our country, we call upon the Central government to focus all attention in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of Oxygen supplies to all hospitals and health centres across the country. We call upon the Central government to immediately launch a free mass vaccination programme across the country”.
Among the signatories were the INC president Sonia Gandhi, JDS leader HD Deve Gowda, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, TMC Chairperson and the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee, JMM leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, DMK chief MK Stalin, BSP national president Mayawati, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and the left leaders D Raja (CPI) and Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M).
